Auckland, a large metropolitan city on the North Island of New Zealand, is the most populous urban area in the country.
Auckland is the home of the largest Polynesian population in the world and, in Maori, is called Tamaki Makaurau meaning "Tamaki desired by many."
We visited Auckland on a cruise and spenT the morning doing a winery tour on Waiheke Island across the harbor from the city.
In the afternoon, we took about two hours to walk around the city, mainly to look at the architecture.
As a whole, the city seemed very pedestrian.
